Bellingham Kiwanis SoundingsDecember 29,2009Our current president deserted us on the last meeting of the year and next years president Barbara Audley led a good group of Kiwanians. We were so glad to see Lyla back in our midst and somehow our singing just smoothed out considerably. Reverend Al Dale led us in prayer. We had distinguished guests. Lyla’s grand daughter Lianne who, by now, should be recognized as an associate Kiwanian. Another that should be recognized as something in our club is Bill Audley who I think was somewhere in the group. Al Dale recoginized a fine looking young man as his son (must have taken after his mother). We had a few announcements:Next week we are meeting with the Ferndale club at Babes in Ferndale. Whoa the annual smile train donations topped $3,000.00 which will repair the disfigured faces of no less than 12 beautiful childen. John Wilson has moved from selling furniture to selling car washes for our clubs administration fund raiser. Mike Yeend announced a youth services/sponsored youth meeting on January 4th , high noon at avenue bread on James Street. Happy dollars flowed like confetti in Times Square at New YearsRuss Weston was upset at the disrespect that the queen received at her annual talk to parliament. It was almost as disrespectful as we treated Rich Emerson the previous week……..but he deserves whatever we give him. The two Nancy’s from our club were in attendance and Nancy Larson was pleased to see the new mom Nancy Leavitt. Nancy Leavitt was just glad to get out of the house after delivering a 9 pound tank two months earlier. Whats the deal now Ralph paid a dollar to say that he was happy to see Rhonda. Hey I was happy to see all of those in attendance but I am not going to pay for the pleasure!!! Bob Gregory was celebrating 37 years of matrimony on that day. Is he really married? Has anyone ever actually seen his wife? Do you think she was celebrating also? Our newest surprise grandpa to be Vaughn Hagen is looking towards mid may for the big day to have a new baby accountant join the Hagen firm. John Wilson’s son following after his fathers footsteps is now hopping trains!!! Bruce Jorgensen has perhaps the most significant real happy dollar as he was celebrating his two sisters move to bury some hard feelings and join the family again. John Eagan not wanting to be upstaged by Vaughn Hagen is celebrating his granddaughter having her 6th baby. Bill Audley celebrated a wonderful evening at the festival of lights at warm beach. There is a cost for viewing this extraordinary show of Christmas lights so Dick Zagelow invited all to drive by his house for free and see his amazing Christmas show. Of course no members were actually invited to come into the house. DrawingThe drawing once again proved Nancy Larson to be a lucky looser. ProgramOur meeting was really a fun one with members sharing Christmas stories and some jokes that Rich Emerson missed last year. It’s a great joy to just share with Kiwanians this way. All were wished a Happy New Year and off we went to put an end to 2009 and move forward with a brand new year. |
