Pres Rich started his final meeting with the rap of the bell. Lyla lead the group singing America and Alyson gave the invocation.

Randy Flowers, Mitchell Riley,Bill Audley, Rhonda Schaefer (boys and girls club exec) and the winner of this years Bike Rodeo with parents, Victoria Hughes, Larry Hughes, and Cindy Hughes.

Presentation:

Bruce Jorgensen presented the winner of the Bike Rodeo,Victoria Hughes, with a brand new 20 inch bicycle for participating in the Bicycle Safety Rodeo!! This year 54 riders ran the courses, with several repeating the entire series for added training or just for the fun of it! Announcements:

Prez Rich asked for volunteers for tonight's bingo. Bruce and Larry stepped up to the plate.

Lyla announced a baby pool for Nancy Leavitt who has an October due date. Guess the time and date - win 50% of the pot.

Committee Reports:

Community Service: Saturday September 26th and the Bellingham Kiwanis did their fall cleaning and upkeep at the Bellingham Kiwanis Pocket Park. Years ago, The Bellingham Kiwanis adopted the small park behind Bellingham City Hall. The park includes a trail that goes along Whatcom Creek. The primary chores are weeding and spreading mulch. This year, we were awarded the "Natural Habitat" plaque which we installed by our Kiwanis Sign.

  • Club members: Vaughn Hagen, Bruce Jorgensen, Greg Wegrich, Larry West, Layne Johnson, Jan Armstrong, Barb Audley, Russ Weston, Emily Citron, and Marty Staufer (chairperson).
  • Family Members and friends: Gary Armstrong, Russ Weston, and Matthew Citron.
  • Volunteers from Juvenile Justice.
  • County Park manager of volunteer program, Kathy Eldred

    YCPO: Baby food drives, Barkley Haggens on September 25th, and the Sehome and Meridian Haggens on October 3rd.

    Happy Dollars:

    Dr. Bob the Vet was happy to have spent 10 day riding horses in Wyoming.

    Ralph joked about Dr. Bob the Vet and his hunting trip.

    Nancy was happy for two reasons, first, great time at the annual banquet, and second her new granite for her kitchen has arrived.

    Bruce was happy to thank Rhonda and the boys and girls club for hosting our Bike Rodeo.

    Barb thank Greg and Ralph for all the work they did setting up the annual banquet. She also told a very funny story that turned out to be true.

    John Wilson also joined in with a funny joke.

    Program:

    Rich Reconized the following Kiwanians:

  • Emily Cirtron for winning the Kiwanian of the Year Award.
  • Ralph Gardner and Elizabeth Bennett for running a very successful Fund Raising Committee.
  • Dick Zagelow for being Mr Bingo all year long.
  • John Howe for being elected to serve on the Kiwanis International Foundation Board.
  • Dick Schmitt for earning his 35 Year Legion of Honor Award.
  • Gred Wegrich and Chelsea Roy for receiving the Kiwanis International Foundation's New Comer Award.
  • Prez Rich presented the lighter moments (certificates were handed out at the banquet):

  • Comment of the Year Award goes to Russ Weston for exclaiming at the end of the Bill Mize Forum that he could smell the legislature.
  • The Electric Problem Award goes to Dick Zagelow for creative wiring at the NWWF Bingo.
  • Two Roles Please Award goes to past Lt. Governor Bill Audley, who appears to have an unending apetite.
  • The Lunch Award goes to Vaughn Hagen for showing up on some projects, just for lunch.
  • One is Better than Two award goes to Dick Zagelow and Mike Yend for combining their two commmittees.
  • The Little Engine that Could Award goes to Anita Jackson for, at the same time, running the Theatre Night Auction Sales and the Choices Program.
  • Stung by a Bee Award goes to Barb Audley who showed up to a meeting after having been stung.
  • Can I Call Now Award goes to Chelsea Roy who worked her way into being Team Captain of the Purple Team
  • I Love Your Jokes Award goes to Ralph Gardner who alway loved Rich's Jokes
  • The Funniest Moment Award goes to Lyla Tjoelker who let us know about this Bull Elephant.
  • Prez Rich presented some of this years achievements:

  • Stronger Bellingham Kiwanis Foundation.
  • Tuesday Bingo.
  • NWWF Bingo - second best year.
  • $10,000 surplus at the end of the year.
  • Last May's Training Session.
  • 750 children received Choices Training.
  • 8 new members.
  • Consolidation of the Youth Services and Sponsored Youth Committees.
  • New K-Club starting up at Bellingham Highschool.
  • Highest Bike Rodeo Participation than the last several years.
  • Presidential Picnic.
