Al D was happy that his wife had returned from a trip to Alanta. It seems he just is not cut out to be a bachelor. He survived but barely. Bill A was glad that Barb was back from Maui. He also confessed to not being a good bachelor. Barb A had a regret dollar. After 10 days, she had to return from the wonderful weather in Maui. I think the regret was based on the weather. Lyla T was happy. Note: She is always happy. Ralph G had a not so good dollar. His furnace broke. Getting is fixed, he will be ....... That reminded Rich E that he was happy to get a new water line. (Dick Z was happy for Rich E that he now has water in his house. All of this reminded Al D that he also has a sad dollar - having been hosed $168 getting a drain fixed. Will D had a sad dollar. His father-in-law is ill. We all wish him the very best. Larry W had a happy/sad dollar. Last week was spent enjoying the Oregon coast featuring the watching of an incredible storm. This was followed by a tooth requiring a root canal (the sad part.) Program:President Dick Zagelow introduced our member Jim Carney, who told three interesting stories about his life. Jim grew up in Aberdeen (not far from Cosmopolis where Bruce J grew up.) He attended Western and received a business administration degree. His early career included missionary work in Mexico. This lead to missionary work in Japan. While in Japan, he met his wife to be. He and his wife returned to Japan to Teach English. Along the way, he worked 20 years for bingo operations and for Mr. Ed's Bingo Supplies. He has been generous with this talent, lending his skills to the Bellingham Kiwanis. Jim currently manages the Gateway Center. If work and Kiwanis were not enough, Jim also finds time to play basketball at the Hill Crest Basketball Night. Although he did not play in high school, he started the Hill Crest Recreational program 30 years ago and continues playing today. |
