President Dick Z opened the meeting, Lyla lead the group singing America, and Hans gave the invocation

Guests:

Bill Audley, current Lt. Gov and official club guest, was in attendance. Other guests were Jessica Haugen, former Circle K International President, and Sondra Clark.

Committee Reports and Announcements

:

Jim C handed out Bingo Advertising Flyers. Please hand them out liberally. Jim also announced that the membership committee was putting together a guest day. Please send the committee prospects.

Anita J. announced that the Choices program was getting an early start. Meridian would like to join the other middle school who use the Kiwanis Choices Program and asked if we would run the program for them this fall. Vaughn will be running one of the program.

YCPO-Lyla thanked those who participated in the very successful baby food drive. Bruce J, Jan A, Elizabeth B, Alyson BB, Emily C, Russ W, many Key Clubbers, and, of course, Lyla. In all, $378 was collected along with 336 pounds of baby food.

Fund Raising-Anita announced the Theatre Night silent auction and play will be January 24. The play will be "Communicating Doors" a comedy with some suspense, using time travel to alter events that have already come to pass.

Happy Bucks $

John E had a great time on his cruise. Lots of sun, lots of fun.

Nancy L had a concern dollar for her brother who lives in Southern California close to the fires.

Bill Audley said that Barb and he had a smoking good time in Seattle

Bill L also had a smoky dollar as he and Lynnette were leaving for Palm Springs.

Doug D had a happy dollar for 35 years of marriage

Lyla had a sad dollar for leaving her jacket at the Baby Food Drive and a happy dollar for the Lynden High School musical.

Alyson B-B paid a fine ten dollars for missing a YCPO meeting.

Ham H was happy that in April he will be back in Cambodia visiting his schools.

Vaughn H paid a dollar to sell some World Series tickets.

Ralph G was happy for the great trip he and Joyce made to Gettesburg. The history and battlefields were very intersting.

Al D had two happy dollars. The first for a play at Pickford Theatre about the 60th anniversary of Normady. He forgot the second.

Birthdays-

Phil Rosser celebrated 94 years. The entire group sung wonderfully.

Ticket Drawing -

Anita drew the ticket, Bill Audley won - but only his dollar.

Program:

Program 1: President Dick Zagelow introduced Sondra Clark of Belligham High School. She has launched a drive to collect shoes to be distributed in 3rd world countries. This project grew out of her travels to Africa and Central America. If you have shoes to donate, take them to Bruce Jorgensen's office by October 27th.

Program 2: President Dick Zagelow introduced Jessica Haugen, former Circle K International President. Jessica graduated from Western Washington University and has taken a position working for the Old Town Christian Ministries Amy's Place.

Amy's place is a drop in center for run-away youth. The program " offers a safe and friendly space where youth can get a meal, clothing, hygienne supplies, showers, and bus vouchers. Youth can also check their e-mails and use the phone.

Currently there are over 200 kids who are using the services. Many of them are homeless. The Center connects homeless kids with resources.
