Bellingham Kiwanis SoundingsOctober 2, 2007With Dick Z gusto, Dick opened the meeting. Lyla lead the singing of God Bless America and Nancy Larsen gave the invocation. Committee Reports:YCPO BABY FOOD DRIVE: Mark October 13th on your calendar. Haggens gives us the use of their grocery store front doors to collect babey food for the Bellingham Food Bank. Please sign up - great project that does great good. BINGO: Between now and the end of the year, the Bellingham Kiwanis is running a Tuesday Night Bingo Game and the Bellingham Elks Club. The doors open at 6:15pm, game starts at 7pm and is finished at 9:30pm. CLICK HERE FOR TEAM LISTS Theatre Night: Elizabeth reported that this years Theatre Night would be January 24th and features a British Comedy. The committee is meeting now and will be starting a drive to obtain auction items. Sign Project: Emily passed the jar and noted that it is this years goal to raise enough funds to build one more sign center. HAPPY BUCKS:Lyla T happy for the beginning of a new year as Past Lt. Governor John W happy for Lyla, and for his new year as Past President. John was also happy that his daughter had her 16th Birthday. This followed by a sad dollar. He had told his daughter that she could start dating at 16. Joe C suggested that John punch the first date. Vaugh H was happy for the great work Lyla did last year as Lt. Governor. Ham H was happy that the Fairhaven Merchants Association had raised $1200 for the Cambodia Schools. Ham will traveling to Cambodia later this year. Nancy L had a fantatic vacation happy dollar. In her family stories, it was noted that her great grandfather had been the mayor of Hamilton Montana and had owned a stage coach company. She took her vaction this year in Hamilton. Upon arriving at City Hall, there were pictures of past mayors, but not of her great grandfather. Through researching the local news paper archives, she was able to verify both he was major in 1914 and the owner of a stage coach company. They have provided a picture of her great grandfather to the City where it will be hung along with the other former major. Dick Schmitt was happy to announce that Judy and he have been married 58 years. Joe Carpenter is happy that school is back in session. He also saw this years first snow while bear hunting. (Sad - no bear this time) Elizabeth is happy to be leaving Thursday for Victoria to see her good friend Maggie. PROGRAM:President Dick Zagelow talked about this year.
